LGC is a leading international provider of proficiency testing (PT) schemes, in a number of sectors including food, environment, forensic and consumer safety. All PT schemes provided by LGC, either solely, or in partnership with other organisations, are operated in compliance with ISO/IEC Guide 43: 1997 Part 1 and ILAC Guide G13 "Guidelines for the Requirements of the Providers of Proficiency Testing Schemes".

LGC’s PT schemes are open to laboratories anywhere in the world, and LGC is using partners and LGC group companies outside of the UK to facilitate a cost-effective and timely service to laboratories, as well as being able to provide effective feedback regarding the needs and wants of laboratories in different parts of the world.

LGC is able to provide consultancy and training on any aspect of proficiency testing scheme operation, and can also operate PT schemes for companies or organisations under contract.
