Our expertise
Programme management
LGC carries out programme management on behalf of the external
organisations. LGC operates the Central Commissioning Facility
(CCF) for the National Institute for Health Research
(NIHR) under contract to the Department of Health (DH).
We partner TUV NEL in supporting the
Technology Programme led by the Office of Science and
Innovation in conjunction with the Technology Strategy
Board (TSB), Defra
and
EPSRC
.
We provide genetics specialists to the Human Genetics Commission
secretariat on a part-time basis under the auspices of
(
DIUS
).
We support the Defra LINK Programme for collaborative
R&D, administering all funding contracts, offers and financial
viability checks on behalf of Defra. We report on funded
Biotechnology LINK projects for BERR.
We provide technical evaluation of proposals submitted for Grant
for Research and Development (formerly SMART) awards for the
Regional Development Agencies and Devolved Administrations, which
support innovation in
SMEs
across the UK.
The
NIHR-CCF
located at LGC acts as a gateway for health
researchers seeking funding from key NIHR programmes, namely:
We manage other NIHR calls and commissioning panels under the NIHR
Faculty and Infrastructure workstrands on an ad hoc
basis.

TUV NEL and LGC have helped to develop the Technology Programme
funding process from its inception to its current form.
The Technology Programme has two competitions for funding each
year, with each round totalling on average £75m.
LGC and TUV NEL manage administrative processes from competition
launch and applications, through to technical monitoring of funded
projects to completion. LGC leads on key technology submissions
under the advanced materials and bioscience themes.
