Key biographies
LGC Forensics staff
Roy Green, Senior Scientific Advisor, LGC
Forensics
Roy is a Senior Scientific Advisor with
over 30 years’ experience. He is responsible for co-ordinating and
reporting on complex and serious crime cases, cold case reviews and
current homicides, and has been involved with a number of high
profile cold cases. Roy was the Lead Scientist in the
reinvestigation of the murder of Rachel Nickell and provided
forensic advice on London 7/7 bombings.
Ros Hammond,
Scientific Advisor, LGC Forensics
Ros is a
Senior Scientific Advisor with over 22 years’ experience, including
12 years’ experience in blood pattern analysis scene attendance and
in the analysis and interpretation of bloodstain patterns at crime
scenes and within the laboratory. Her experience in the
interpretation of complex DNA profiling results includes mixtures,
identifier, minifiler and high sensitivity DNA profiling. Ros was
the Lead Scientist in the reinvestigation of the murder of Damilola
Taylor.
Deborah Hopwood, Lead
Scientist, LGC Forensics
Deborah is
a Lead Scientist with 30 years’ experience, including complex
cases, current homicides and cold case reviews. She is the LGC
Forensics lead for hair evidence and represents LGC on the ENFSI
hair sub-group. She has been active as a scene-going scientist and
her experience also includes the examination of items for material
such as body fluids, damage, fibres, the interpretation of DNA
profiling results and also the examination of bloodstain patterns
on clothing and at crime scenes.
Dr Angela Gallop, former Director of LGC
Forensics
Angela has been a practising forensic
scientist for over 36 years. Angela's career began with the Home
Office Forensic Science Service specialising in the investigation
of crimes of violence. She established Forensic Access and in 1997
co-founded Forensic Alliance which merged in 2005 with the forensic
division of LGC (formerly the Laboratory of The Government Chemist)
to create LGC Forensics. Angela is currently Chief Executive and
Forensic Science Director of Axiom International.
Edward Jarman, Lead Scientist, LGC
Forensics
Edward is a senior Forensic Scientist with
11 years’ experience including 7 years’ scene attendance. He has
been working as one of LGC’s lead biologists for a number of years
and has extensive experience in working with DNA and blood pattern
analysis and blood enhancement. His experience also includes:
damage interpretation, hair examinations and scene examinations,
working on cold cases and numerous murder investigations.
