About LGC

LGC (http://www.lgcgroup.com/ ) is the international science-based company and market leader in analytical, forensic, biotechnology and diagnostic services, as well as diagnostic products, proficiency testing and reference standards. Our operations are extensively accredited to international quality standards such as ISO/IEC 17025. With headquarters in Teddington, South West London, the LGC Group employs over 1,700 staff in 36 laboratories and centres globally. The genesis of LGC dates back to 1842, and for more than 100 years it has been home to the UK statutory function of Government Chemist. Formerly the Laboratory of the Government Chemist, LGC was privatised in 1996 and is now majority-owned by funds managed by Bridgepoint.

About LGC Forensics

LGC Forensics is a division of LGC and is the UK’s largest, full service forensic science provider. LGC Forensics has expertise in a broad range of forensic disciplines, to address the simplest to the most complex of cases. We provide full casework and analytical services in DNA techniques, controlled drugs, toxicology, ecology, questioned documents, digital crime, firearms and ballistics and forensic pathology in support of modern policing.

With circa 700 staff, nine laboratories and centres across the UK and two in Germany, LGC Forensics is able to provide a range of bespoke services at a local level, therefore attracting a wide variety of customers drawn from police forces and other law enforcement agencies, HM Coroners, government departments, defence lawyers, as well as private corporations and individuals.

LGC Forensics has access to a wide range of other specialist teams across the LGC Group including a close working relationship with the largest group of Home Office Pathologists, Forensic Pathology Services and a unique Victim Identification and Mass Fatalities Team. LGC Forensics laboratories are located in Teddington (Middlesex), Bromsgrove (Worcestershire), Culham (Oxfordshire), St. Neots (Cambridgeshire) Runcorn and Risley (Cheshire), Tamworth (Staffordshire), Wakefield (Yorkshire) with a specialist firearms facility in Leeds. German operations are located in Cologne and Berlin.

LGC Standards provides products and services to improve measurement and quality control within the laboratory, and is part of LGC, whose LGC Science & Technology Division acts as the UK National Measurement Institute for chemical and bioanalytical measurements. LGC Standards supplies over 100,000 products, including reference materials, pharmaceutical impurity reference standards (produced under ISO Guide 34 accreditation), biological standards and reagents, and proficiency testing. LGC Standards is headquartered in Teddington, Middlesex, UK. Its global centre for excellence in proficiency testing is located in Bury (Greater Manchester). LGC Standards has offices in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, China, Russia, United Arab Emirates,  and the UK, a joint venture presence in India, and representatives in Brazil, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, the Netherlands, Romania, Turkey and the US.
