26-Oct-2007 - World-class measurement capability supports LGC’s
certified reference materials
LGC is an accredited producer of certified reference materials
(CRMs). Underpinning the values assigned to its CRMs is the high
accuracy measurement capability developed by LGC over the past 20
years
This capability is demonstrated in LGC’s performance in
laboratory inter-comparisons (CCQM studies) with other leading
national measurement laboratories around the world. These studies
are organised by the international weights and measures
organisation, BIPM.
In order to highlight those CRMs produced by LGC which fall
under the scope of this internationally recognised measurement
capability, from 2008 such certificates will now also bear the BIPM
logo.
A recent UKAS audit of LGC stated that "the Reference Material
section participated in a CCQM study of the purity of theophylline,
that included the purity determination after spiking to include
identity and quantity of the impurities. The results were
excellent, as was a poster display showing that LGC is world-class
in its performance over several years in CCQM studies" relating to
the purity of organic materials.
