22-May-2006 - LGC Forensics announces new operational structure
at ACPO 2006
Meet the new LGC Forensics team at ACPO 2006
LGC Forensics, the newly branded forensics division of LGC, will
be exhibiting at the ACPO Exhibition 2006, Stand C41-C43, 24–25 May
at ExCel, London. This will be LGC Forensics first major police
conference attended in the UK since LGC’s acquisition of Forensic
Alliance Limited (FAL) in September 2005 and its incorporation
within LGC’s existing forensic services division.
The operational structure of LGC Forensics will be announced for
the first time at ACPO 2006. All key members of the team will
be on hand to discuss the specialist needs of police customers from
a forensic service provider and to demonstrate LGC Forensics full
forensic service offering. Dr Angela Gallop, who heads the new
forensics division as an Executive Director of LGC, will have two
directors reporting to her, Nick Claxton and Tom Palmer.
LGC’s Nick Claxton, Director for Forensic Business Development,
will be concentrating his efforts towards sales, customer support
and contracts and tenders. Tom Palmer, formerly of FAL, will be
responsible as Operations Director for the four new operational
areas of LGC Forensics: Drugs and Toxicology, Forensic Chemistry,
Forensic DNA and Forensic Biology.
LGC Forensics stand at ACPO will be centred around a striking
car crime scene, with an abandoned car positioned as the focal
point. Forensics staff will be located at dedicated points
around the stand to discuss services provided by their specialist
areas and to explain how evidence retrieved from a crime scene is
analysed. Specialist areas represented this year will include
glass, footwear and tool mark analysis, Touch DNA and an
interactive display about digital forensics.
Details of bespoke specialist training services provided by LGC
Forensics for police officers will also be available – and a place
on a course can be won by entering a competition on the stand.
