22-Jan-2008 - LGC and REACHReady to host workshop on Consumer Articles

What does REACH mean for Consumer Articles and what do you need to do to comply? To find out, come along to a workshop, jointly organised by LGC and REACHReady, at The Heath Conference Centre, Runcorn on 6 February 2008

The event is aimed at producers of finished goods who need to gain a better understanding of their obligations under the REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) regulations. The workshop will be useful to those who will be involved in managing REACH compliance activities for their company.

The REACH Regulation applies, in certain cases, to ‘articles’ that are finished products such as clothing, furniture, motor vehicle parts etc. Every finished product is made from substances, and all substances contained in articles need to be registered if they are intended to be released and will need to be notified if they are a Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC).

LGC and REACHReady will be organising the event and representatives from both organisations will be at the Conference Centre, Runcorn to bring you the latest information on what the REACH regulation will mean for Consumer Articles.

LGC’s Chemical Safety Consultant Bob Scott, will be welcoming delegates and chairing the Seminar, and Ian Axford, Team Leader in LGC’s Consumer Safety department, will present a paper on ‘Calculating your REACH liability’.

LGC is working with REACHReady to help the UK chemical industry prepare for REACH. LGC has a respected track record in this area and has supplied specialist support for REACH training projects in Poland and Bulgaria. LGC staff were also closely involved with the development of a pioneering post-graduate course in REACH management provided by the University of Hull.

REACHReady (<http://www.reachready.co.uk/index.php>) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Chemical Industries Association (CIA) and was established to provide a greater understanding and to inform people on any developments of the REACH regulation.

The workshop will take place at The Heath Conference Centre, Runcorn, Cheshire WA7 4QX and will run from 10:00 am to 3:30pm.
