LGC, an international science-based company
and recognised leader in chemical and biological analytical
services and reference materials, welcomed local MP Vince Cable to
its headquarters in Teddington, South West London today.
MP for Twickenham and Deputy
Leader of the UK Liberal Democrats, Vince Cable met with
David Richardson, Chief Executive of LGC, to hear about the
company’s recent change of ownership and its plans for future
growth.
LGC announced last month
that it has been acquired with management by Bridgepoint from LGV
Capital in a transaction that values the business at £257
million.
LGC employs 1500 staff in 28
laboratories and centres across Europe and at sites in India, China
and the US. Nearly 600 are based at the company’s headquarters in
Teddington.
LGC’s products and services
are focussed on customers in forensic science, pharmaceutical and
biotechnology research, development and quality control; food chain
and environmental surveillance and safety; life sciences and
genomics. The company is also the UK’s designated National
Measurement Institute for chemical and biochemical analysis and is
the host organisation for the UK’s Government Chemist function.
David Richardson, Chief
