opens new state-of-the-art office in
Twickenham
Professor Dame Sally C. Davies opens LGC’s new programme
management facilities for health research
Professor Dame Sally C.
Davies, Director General of Research and Development at the
Department of Health officially opened LGC’s new offices in
Twickenham, South West London, on 12
November.
From this new site, LGC will
continue to operate an online application facility and post-award
management process for health and social
care research in the NHS, funded by the National Institute for
Health Research (NIHR), as well as research under the Department of
Health’s Policy Research Programme and Health Innovation Challenge
Fund with the Wellcome Trust.
Dame Sally toured the Church
Street offices and met with David
Richardson, Chief Executive of LGC and Dr
Derek Craston, Government Chemist and Director of LGC’s Science
& Technology Division.
Dame Sally commented, “I
am delighted to be opening LGC Twickenham. LGC understands what
we need from a service provider to facilitate research for the NHS
having managed programmes for the Department of Health since
2001.”
David Richardson said:
“We are delighted to welcome Dame Sally to LGC’s new site in
Twickenham, where we now employ nearly 70 staff. LGC is proud of
its services in programme management to the Department of Health
and we look forward to continuing to build our relationship with
the Department of Health and to supporting the National Institute
for Health Research in funding world-class research.”
The NIHR provides the
framework through which the research staff and research
infrastructure of the NHS in England is positioned, maintained and
managed as a national research facility.
LGC’s headquarters remain in
nearby Teddington, South West London.
