09-Aug-2006 - LGC’s Dr Steve Ellison becomes the new Chair of
Eurachem
After 12 years of involvement, including two as Vice Chair,
LGC’s Dr Steve Ellison assumed the role of Eurachem Chair at its
General Assembly in Istanbul, in May 2006. At the same meeting,
LGC’s Keith Marshall was elected as Eurachem Secretary
Established in 1989, Eurachem is a network of laboratories from
32 nations across Europe working in cooperation to establish an
internationally recognised system of traceability for chemical
measurement and to promote good practice in analytical measurement.
This network provides a forum for the discussion of common problems
and for developing an informed and considered approach to both
technical and policy issues.
On his appointment as Chair, Dr Ellison said: “I’m pleased and
privileged to be taking over the Eurachem chairmanship, especially
with the help of Keith Marshall as secretary. I believe the
involvement of LGC, with funding from the DTI’s VAM [Valid
Analytical Measurement] programme, will allow us to do a good job
for Eurachem, and I also think it’s good for the UK to have an
active role in such an influential measurement quality
organisation. I am particularly grateful to the DTI for the funding
that makes this possible.”
