04-July-2007 - LGC awarded RoSPA’s ´Order of Distinction´
LGC’s Teddington site has again been recognised for its
consistent excellence in Occupational Health and Safety by RoSPA,
with the presentation of the Order of Distinction, following 15
consecutive years of RoSPA Gold, Gold Medal and Presidents
Awards
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) is a
registered charity established over 80 years ago and aims to
campaign for change, influence opinion, contribute to debate,
educate and inform - for the good of all. There are three
fundamental purposes to the RoSPA scheme: to motivate improvement
in health and safety performance by providing targets (through
different award levels); to recognise and celebrate health and
safety achievements at a national level; and to provide role models
for other organisations to follow.
The application process for the award includes the completion of
ten key performance questions, an overview of LGC’s health and
safety system and a full portfolio including all relevant
documentation.
This award is highly regarded by the staff and management at LGC
and is recognised as being a significant achievement for the
company.
John Day, Head of Quality and Safety at LGC, commented: "The
award reflects the commitment by all staff towards safe working
systems and practices and it is by their efforts that this award
has been achieved."
John Day is to chair the ´Laboratory Safety and Biosafety´
conference on 3 October as part of L.A.B. 2007, the European
trade fair and conference series devoted to analysis, bio and
laboratory equipment at ExCel, London, from 2-4 October, organised
by Leipziger Messe.
