03-Oct-06 - Brandenburg Minister of Economic Affairs visits
LGC
LGC extends its commitment to growth in Germany by welcoming
the Minister of Economic Affairs, Ulrich Junghanns, and his party
from Brandenburg, to LGC on 3 October 2006
LGC is an international science company, this year celebrating
ten years of growth in all areas of our business - internationally.
Nowhere is this more evident than in Germany where LGC is growing
strongly in products for laboratory quality, especially for the
pharmaceutical sector, and more recently in both life sciences and
forensics.
LGC produces pharmaceutical impurity reference standards at
Luckenwalde in Brandenburg and, as LGC Promochem, operates a
one-stop shop for reference materials from its distribution centre
in Wesel. During 2006, LGC has made two acquisitions in Germany:
AGOWA, a specialist genomics company based in Berlin, and the
Institut für Blutgruppenforschung, a provider of DNA services in
paternity testing and forensic genetics based in Köln.
Since LGC started its operations in Luckenwalde in 2003, our
business has grown substantially and our staff numbers have more
than doubled. This success, based on LGC´s ability to attract good
scientific staff and the good relationships with Brandenburg, has
led LGC to consider further investments in Luckenwalde to serve its
growing customer base worldwide. We also see excellent prospects
for growth in all our other businesses in Germany.
LGC is evaluating investment plans across all sectors of our
business in Germany. LGC executives are in discussion with
officials from Brandenburg about expansion options at
Luckenwalde.
Outside Germany, LGC also has laboratories and production
facilities in the UK, Poland and the recently opened
state-of-the-art laboratory in Bangalore, India. In addition, LGC
has distribution and logistic centres in the UK, France, Italy,
Poland, Spain, Sweden and India.
