01-Oct-2007 - Introducing LGC Standards - the global ‘one stop
shop’ for laboratory quality and measurement
LGC signals a new era in excellence through measurement
Science-based company LGC is launching LGC Standards to embrace
its products and services for measurement and quality control. In a
move that unites over 200 staff into a single business division,
LGC Standards becomes the only provider that can offer a ‘one stop
shop’ in support of laboratory quality.
LGC Standards encompasses reference material distribution,
proficiency testing operations and an analytical quality training
programme, together with the production of pharmaceutical
impurities and custom synthesis in Germany and India, which supply
the pharmaceutical sector across the globe.
LGC Standards will incorporate all LGC Promochem subsidiaries in
France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and Sweden. Each will be
rebranded as LGC Standards in a phasing out of the LGC Promochem
name by the end of 2007. In an earlier transition, the Quality
Management (QM) and Aquacheck company names moved to the LGC
Standards sub-brand.
Dr Matthias Brommer, Director, LGC Standards, said: "LGC
Standards is a champion of measurement science and quality control.
We are extending the breadth of products and services we offer,
investing in our facilities and expanding into a number of new
sales territories. We are building an ‘added value, science
support’ business for the benefit of our 10,000 customers across a
range of market sectors so that they can achieve more accurate fit
for purpose measurements, with the ultimate aim of improving
quality.
"Although no longer company or subsidiary names, we will be
using QM, Aquacheck and Promochem in certain product or service
line brands as we recognise that these are well known in their
respective markets. One notable example of this will be the
Promochem line of high purity solvents available from LGC
Standards."
The market sectors served by LGC Standards are diverse and
underpin many industries in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, foods,
environment, health, clinical and forensics.
LGC Standards is a division of LGC, whose Research and
Technology Division acts as the designated UK National Measurement
Institute for chemical and biochemical analysis.
