LGC’s Environment and Safety Services Team offers a variety of
environmental and radiochemistry services.
Environmental analysis
LGC performs analyses on a wide range of
sample types. The majority of our analyses are accredited by UKAS
to the requirements of ISO 17025, and include:
- Materials in contact with drinking water - BS6920 and
Regulation 31 Testing
- Asbestos in building materials
- Metals(using
ICP-OES
and
ICP-MS
)
- Colour, pH, conductivity, suspended and dissolved solids, total
organic carbon
- Identification of unknown organics by GC-MS.
Radiochemistry
LGC is one of the UK’s leading radiochemical
analysis laboratories with more than 40 years’ experience. Our
radiochemical services are accredited to the requirements of ISO
17025 for the majority of our analyses.
We have extensive experience with a variety of
sample types including water, effluents, sediments, soil, dusts,
ash, air filters, vegetation, fauna and food products. Amongst our
routine services are:
- Total alpha and beta activity
- Gamma spectrometry
- Actinides including isotopes of uranium, thorium, plutonium,
americum and curium by chemical separation and alpha
spectrometry
- Iodine isotopes, strontium-90, polonium-210, radium-226 and
technetium-99
- Liquid scintillation counting for tritium, carbon-14,
sulfur-35, phosphorus-32, chlorine-36 plus dual and triple-label
counting.
