The safety of the food we eat is paramount.
There are important challenges faced by the food industry in terms
of quality and safety. At LGC we have a long history of using the
power of science to support our customers in the daily decisions
they face, throughout all parts of the global food chain.
We have an extensive range of food & beverage industry
services, covering analytical services,
reference materials and proficiency testing schemes. These services
encompass food and feed chemistry, nutritional composition,
authenticity and food safety.
Drawing on the considerable capabilities of our chemists, food scientists,
molecular biologists and statisticians, we determine a wide
selection of macro and micro nutrients, process and natural
contaminants and food allergens. Recognised as a world-leading
facility, our organic residues operation (including pesticides and
veterinary drug residues) services clients throughout Europe, South
America and Asia.
Through our sports nutrition
business, we have an extensive program to detect banned substances at exceptionally low levels in
both finished goods and raw materials. We have also developed a
portfolio of breakthrough biomarker assays that assist industry and
academia in the development of nutritional programmes.
This broad scope of expertise enables us to satisfy the wide
range of analyses we are required to carry out in support of the
statutory role of the Government Chemist, as an independent and
impartial referee analyst.
