Dr Derek Craston, The
Government Chemist and Director, Research &
Technology
Derek Craston holds the position of Government Chemist and he
also heads LGC's Research & Technology Division. The division
undertakes major contracts for the Government's National
Measurement System Directorate on chemical and biochemical analysis
and provides programme management for several Government
Departments. Derek is also involved in developing and exploiting
new analytical techniques to meet the future needs of LGC's
business.
In his role as Government Chemist, Derek is responsible for the
work we do as the referee analyst, advising government on
analytical matters and promoting analytical science and technology.
Derek joined LGC in 1991 as a leader of the company's research and
development activities, and has over 10 years' experience in
management within a high technology environment.
