Financial highlights 2002-2003
Breaking through the £50m sales threshold has fulfilled our
corporate plan targets. Last year sales grew by 26% to £52m and
operating profit before tax by 83% to £4.6m. Profit, including
exceptional items, amounted to £5.5m.
Notable achievements during the year included:
- The official opening of our new laboratory at Teddington
dedicated to use by the Medicines Control Agency (now renamed the
Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency);
- After successfully completing the first year of operation of
our Teddington DNA crime scene laboratory, the building of a
similar facility at our Runcorn site due to open in summer
2003;
- New distribution agreements reached by LGC Promochem, including
a collaboration with ChromaDex;
- Worldwide sub-licensing of our patent on CYP2D6, a genetic
sequence which indicates whether certain drugs are compatible with
individual genetic make-up;
- The award for the second year running of the RoSPA President's
Award for Occupational Health and Safety, following ten years as a
Gold Medal Award winner.
