Financial highlights 2001-2002
LGC maintained its record of consistent growth in sales and
profits in 2001-02. Sales grew 55% to £41.2m and operating profits
rose by 56% to £2.56m.
Notable achievements during the year include:
- The launch of our reference materials brand, LGC Promochem,
signalling the creation of our new pan-European distribution
business;
- The opening of a new state-of-the-art genotyping laboratory to
support our expanding life sciences operation;
- The rapid expansion of our new BSE testing facility, which is
now analysing thousands of samples each week for
Defra

- The introduction of a new Management Skills Development
Programme for our middle managers;
- The award of the RoSPA President's Award for Occupational
Health and Safety, after ten years as a Gold Medal Award
winner.
